Hottie "Deception" star Laz Alonso kicks off the debut issue of the lifestyle magazine "FUZION." See his photoshoot inside, plus the fate of his and Meagan Good's new show....
"Deception" star Laz Alonso covers the premiere issue of FUZION Magazine, a new lifestyle magazine offers insight on everything from fashion and beauty to style and music. In the April/May 2013 issue, which also doubles as their "Inaugural Men's Issue", Cuban-American cutie Laz's "Definition" spread focuses on how he's mapped out a vision for his life and career and how he stays grounded.
For his Jennifer Rose Keany-shot fashion spread, the actor channels Daniel Craig's James Bond. And we are not mad. Here are the highlights:
On "Deception" and how it relates to his views about the industry:
“In this entertainment business “Deception” happens every single week. One of the definite moments of disappointments and expectation. I always keep in mind that business is nothing guaranteed. I always have to roll with the punches with this business. This business of entertainment is built on “what you see is what you get”. And I learned to not believe everything you hear and see. In this business they are always looking for the next big thing.
On dealing with rejection:
“The only thing that’s going to keep you pushing and keep you depersonalizing rejection is if you totally love what you’re doing.”- Laz Alonso
On handling a bad romantic movie scene experience:
“My first scene was a romantic scene with this young actress. As the romantic scene came and we went for the kiss, her tongue was so long (Starts to laugh)it was tickling my lungs. I mean I could not breathe for that moment!”
On the cover (atop), Laz wore three-piece suit from Alexander Nash, shirt from BDG, bowtie from Ike Behar, pocket square from Kiton, and jewelry by Maddaloni Jewelers.

The digital and print versions of FUZION are available now....
And as for the return of "Deception," looks like that piece is about to get the axe. Last week, NBC released a slew of shows getting renewed. And "Deception" was not on that list. No updates have been made yet. Looks like Meagan Good & Laz are going to have to find somewhere else to flaunt their hotness weekly.

Chael Sonnen has become one of the sport’s biggest names, not only because of his athletic abilities, but because of his talents on the mic. Of course, due to this unprecedented gift for promoting fights and trash talk, it’s no secret that Sonnen is one of the more polarizing fighters in MMA. According to recent [...]

Alan Belcher. Gian Villante. Anthony Johnson. Wagner Prado. Waachiim Spiritwolf. Constantinos Phillippou. These fighters have all been on the wrong end of an inadvertent eye poke and the inadequate set of rules that accompany eye pokes. What can be done in a sport where open-fingered gloves are used and strikes to any part of the face are allowed?
The UFC's vice president of regulatory affairs Marc Ratner has one idea that he thinks will help situations like the one that arose during Villante's loss. Ovince St-Preux inadvertently poked Villante in the eye. Referee Kevin Mulhall didn't see the poke, but Villante stepped back and said he was poked in the eye. Mulhall asked Villante if he could see, Villante responded he couldn't, and in accordance with MMA rules, the fight was stopped.
What Ratner wants to do is take the referee out of the decision to stop the fight. Since it's a medical decision, let the fight doctor make it. It will also give fighters time to recover as they wait for the doctor to come into the cage.
"I think by bringing the doctor in, just the whole operation will take a couple of minutes, and I think that should alleviate most of the pain and give us enough time to make sure the guy can fight," Ratner said.
Ratner will introduce this change to the Association of Boxing Commissions, the national oversight group of state MMA and boxing associations.
Referee John McCarthy also favors this approach:
From the eye poke. U can use the doctor 2 help in giving the fighter time 2 clear their vision. There is no need to rush in this situation
? Big John McCarthy (@JohnMcCarthyMMA) April 28, 2013
A change to allow some extra time would also keep fighters out of the weird position of possibly lying to officials. Villante honestly answered the question, "Can you see?" He didn't think Mulhall would stop the fight because of it. This situation could make fighters think twice about how they answer the question, which could put their health in danger.
The open-fingered gloves don't help. Fighters use sparring gloves that are smaller than boxing gloves in training, but the gloves' size would get in the way during ground fighting and submission attempts. UFC commentator Joe Rogan has spoken during many fights about the need for a better design for fight gloves, but none have surfaced among high-level fighting.
How can MMA fix this problem? Great ideas don't have to come from executives or state commissioners. If you have an idea to combat eye pokes, share it on Cagewriter's Facebook page. We'll feature the best ones in a post.

Well-known MMA referee Josh Rosenthal has been a part of some of the UFC's most famous bouts, including Brock Lesnar's championship win over Shane Carwin and Dan Henderson's Fight of the Year win over Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Now, it turns out he was also part of an illegal drug operation.
In a story that could have been the plot of the show "Weeds," Rosenthal plead guilty to charges of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana. He and an associate owned a warehouse that kept 1,356 marijuana plants with a street value of $6 million. According to MMA Junkie, he could spend more than three years in prison:
The government is recommending 37 months in jail, fines and five years of probation, during which he would be subject to random searches, according to the agreement. Without a deal, he faced 10 years to life in prison, a $10 million fine and a minimum of five years' probation.
The court will ultimately decide Rosenthal's fate. He is scheduled to appear on May 17.
Rosenthal was once a mainstay on the UFC refereeing rotation, but hasn't been in the cage recently. His license lapsed in California as he dealt with his legal troubles and healed from a staph infection. Though referees are assigned by state commissions, not the UFC, Rosenthal had earned the praise of UFC president Dana White for his role in the Lesnar-Carwin bout.

Eve is on full promo mode as she prepares to drop her new album Liplock. And she recently dished about how she plans to raise her future kids with her now-boyfriend, British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper. Check out what she said about teaching the kiddies about their racial identity and raising them "colorblind"....
The fab 34-year-old Eve is in a totally different space than her "Love Is Blind" days. Instead of going hard with the fellas rocking a fresh baldie, she's a true girly girl now who's giggly like a school girl when talking about her boo, Maximillion. And she's got babies on the brain.
She's still got a little of that pitbull-in-a-skirt in her, but the "She Bad" rapper chatted it up with VIBE VIXEN about all things girly. We're hearing about her hot and ever changing style (she styles herself!), why she's so open about her romantic relationship and how the twosome will raise their kids.
Here are the highlights:
On being more open about her relationship and deciding what to share and what to keep to herself: I have to say, it is pretty hard. I think you can get so comfortable with sharing that you don't even realize like "Oooh!" But at the same time, I feel like I've been really good at being private. Like, I think we keep it to a minimum. We might write tweets and say we love each other and things like that, but I don't really put out much personal information about us or what we're exactly doing. It's like "I love you baby. Thank you" or whatever, but never anything too personal.
On teaching her children about race + identity: I want them to be colorblind, but I do want them to understand both sides of themselves. I'm a black woman and I love being a black woman. And I think my child should know that black part of themselves. But obviously at the same time, their father would be white and I would want them to know that side of themselves. And British! That's a whole other situation (laughs). But in doing that, I think they can be colorblind. I don't want them to see color. I never did. I grew up in the hood and my mother was very good at it not being a black thing, even though I grew up around all black people. I want them to want to know everything about all kinds of races. And hopefully they will.
On who she would form a super group with: I would have to say me and Swizz (Beatz). Definitely. Like me and Swizz could make a full record. But then I would add to that me, Swizz, Missy. I would add Missy. And I would want to add one more. (Long pause) Andre 3000. I'm ready for the tour (laughs)!
On her style constantly evolving: You know what? Honestly, to my friend today, this morning, I was like, "Girl, I think I'm about to cut my hair off." Like, I'm feeling it! But I don't want to go back to retro me (laughs).
On her favorite part about styling herself: It's fun! It's an accessory. It's like putting on a bracelet or a ring. Even my boyfriend teases me. Like I'm the first black girl he's dated and we've been together three years. And he's like in every vacation picture, I have different hair. Like, who are you? But I can't help it.
On being a girly girl: Oh, I'm a girly girl. But that's another thing. I'm schizophrenic because I love my sweatpants, too. That's the first thing I do when I go to a hotel or when I come home. I put on something comfortable.
Eve's Liplock hits shelves May 14th.

Not sure why everybody's getting real reckless with LaLa & Carmelo Anthony these days, but Mrs. Anthony is now fighting back. As she should. Check out her response to Celtics baller Jordan Crawford after he shouted at Carmelo some sexual accusations about his wife during game 5 this week...
LaLa's finding herself having to defend herself to benchwarmers. The reality star, pictured above hitting up the GIG-IT event earlier this week in NYC, popped off via Instagram after Celtics baller Jordan Crawford popped some reckless ish to Melo in Game 5 of the playoffs Wednesday.
Jordan, who was caught on video yelling this during the game, said to Carmelo, "That muthaf**ker fu*ked your wife!"
Obviously, he's referencing the whole Kevin Garnett/Honey Nut Cheerios debacle that had Melo waiting outside Kevin's bus....old school fight style.
But this time around, Melo didn't waste his energy trying to fight Jordan (well, he cooled off quickly), and LaLa handled it herself via Instagram. She posted a pic that said, "STRONG WOMEN intimidate weak men." Then followed up with, “Try again. You on the bench for a reason.”
Bloop.
Jordan denies saying it (mind you, there is video evidence of him saying this).
Carmelo told reporters after the game that Jordan, who was a no-name before this, doesn't even deserve their typing time.
“I’m not thinking about Jordan Crawford. Not at this point in time. I’ll tell you that . . . I don’t think he deserves for you to be typing [about him].”
Ha. Y'all better leave Melo & 'em alone....
